K20CETC Projects > Communities of Interest

Overall Goals:
To facilitate partnerships that create efficiencies, enhance effectiveness, or hold great promise for creating new discoveries that demonstrate effective, innovative, network-enabled approaches to teaching and learning.

To identify effective online teaching and learning methods and to promote best practices.

To provide all faculty/teachers and students across the state with access to a thin layer of technology services (such as access to learning management systems), technical support, and professional development opportunities required to actively participate in online teaching/learning.

Objectives:
Communities of Practice -- Teaching Online:
  1. To ensure that online instructors are adequately trained.
  2. To provide a mechanism for ongoing collaboration among online teachers so that teachers can continuously improve their teaching methods and stay abreast of new technologies.
  3. To enhance student learning.
Communities of Practice -- Subject-Specific:
  1. To provide a mechanism for ongoing collaboration among educators involved in a common program and/or subject area so that educators can continuously improve their teaching methods, stay abreast of research findings, share resources, etc.
  2. To enhance student learning.
